Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is easy on a whole food, plant-based diet! Say good-bye to calorie counting and portion restrictions. Eating nutrient-rich plant foods with bountiful fiber fills you up with all the right things to promote good health.

In the class Maintaining a Healthy Weight with Plant-Based Meals you will:

  • See a short video with medical experts covering plant-based nutrition information related to weight control
  • Discover how to get started easily with foods you already know
  • Participate in a hands-on cooking demonstration to build knowledge and skills
  • Learn how to make three low-fat, high-fiber plant-based recipes you can enjoy at home
  • Receive useful resources related to plant-based eating and weight management

The food we eat has a significant impact on our health, other living creatures, and our planet. Medical research and studies indicate that a low-fat, plant-based diet can be very effective in improving blood sugar levels, promoting weight loss, lowering cholesterol, managing blood pressure, and reducing inflammation. This way of eating has been proven to prevent, manage, and in some cases reverse chronic diseases such as heart disease, hypertension, some forms of cancer, type 2 diabetes, some autoimmune diseases, obesity, and other medical conditions.

The class instructor, Deb Czech, is a plant-based cooking and nutrition coach and the founder of Planted Platter. She helps people improve their health by teaching them to prepare tasty, wholesome, plant-based meals. Deb has been a licensed Food for Life instructor with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine since 2019 and regularly teaches classes online and in various locations in the Capital Region.
