Program Description

Event Details

Join us for an evening with local author Peter Balint as he discusses his memoir, The Shoe in the Danube. Balint shares his story, which begins with his birth during an air raid in Budapest in 1944 and chronicles his family's subsequent journey as refugees and their eventual emigration to the United States.

Peter Balint discusses his memoir by looking back on his arrival in the US more than 60 years ago, and all that preceded and succeeded it. He explores the cultural dissonance and his continuing rage and survivor’s guilt. It’s a story of family dysfunction, as well as success.

A Q&A and book signing session will follow the discussion.

Registration for this event is encouraged for proper headcount, but not required. The presentation will begin promptly at 6 PM; doors to the event will open 15 minutes prior. Q&A and book signing will be from 7 to 7:30 PM.
