Event Details
Families are invited to the first of a two-part presentation on the life cycle of a chicken! In this first presentation, educator George Steele will visit us with a hen and a rooster to discuss the care, behavior, and incubation of chickens. We'll be setting up an incubator with eggs right here in the Children's Library! Over the course of the next 21 days, you can visit the eggs as they stay safe and warm inside the incubator. On a second visit to the Library on May 22, George Steele will clue us all in to what's been happening inside of the egg, and you'll have a chance to see how the chicks have grown using a process called "candling." He'll discuss the final growth and hatching process of the chicks, which we expect to take place around June 6-7. Once the chicks hatch, they go home with George to join his flock.
Space is limited. Please register EACH attendee individually. Note that signing up for this first program does not automatically register you for the second one. If you want to attend the second event, please register for that separately.
