Program Description
Event Details
Did you know that almost 30% of waste deposited in landfills can be composted? That's 60 billion pounds, each year! When left to rot in landfills, this waste leads to increased emissions of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Composting is one of the easiest ways for us to be part of a climate solution.
Guilderland Coalition for Responsible Growth presents a program on composting, in collaboration with representatives from Foodscraps360 and Zero Waste Capital District, who will share their expertise on this subject. You'll learn about simple ways to compost right in your own backyard, as well as other options available, such as compostable pick-ups.
You'll also have an opportunity to take part in the Capital District Annual Backyard Composter and Rain Barrel "Truckload Sale," which is open to anyone in the Capital region! Information will be available at the program about the sale, which offers products at wholesale prices and no shipping fees. You can also pre-order now, HERE. When you order, you can select pickup at Elm Avenue Park in Bethlehem or William K. Sanford Library in Colonie, both on Saturday, April 20.
So whether you want to DIY at home or want your compostables picked up for you, we encourage you to come learn more valuable information available at this seminar, and do your part in helping the planet! Refreshments will be served!
