Event Details

It's Jazz Appreciation Month, and we're celebrating in a big way with one of the best groups around! JAZZ VIBES is an ensemble featuring Michael Benedict on vibraphone, David Gleason on piano, Mike Lawrence on bass and Pete Sweeney on drums. Jazz Vibes has been the leading vibraphone group in the Capital Region of New York State for over a decade.

Band leader Michael Benedict, who holds a Master's degree in Jazz Studies from Rutgers University, has performed throughout the United States and in Europe; his vibraphone is a jazz instrument modeled after the xylophone and marimba. The repertoire of the group includes original compositions, jazz standards, and Brazilian-influenced jazz called Bossa Nova.

The band will be joined by special guest Kaitlyn Fay, a jazz vocalist, educator, guest conductor and musician. As a jazz vocalist, Fay has performed throughout New York and New Jersey, as well as in Europe, and has opened for renowned jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli and for the Count Basie Orchestra. Fay currently plays baritone saxophone with the BWC Jazz Orchestra and Keith Pray's Big Soul Ensemble around the Capital Region.

This program is brought to you by The Music Performance Trust Fund, The Mohawk Valley Society for Live Music, and the Schenectady-Amsterdam Musical Union, Local 85-133 of the American Federation of Musicians.
