Program Description

Event Details

The talk will discuss the American invasion of Canada that lasted from August of 1775 until June of 1776.  The program will also discuss the Canadian invasion of upstate New York that was planned during the summer of 1776 and actually occurred in October and November of 1776.  Major General Philip Schuyler from Albany was in charge of the Northern Department of the Continental army in 1775 and 1776 and he made a series of military decisions during the period.  The talk analyzes those decisions.   The main tool used to study Schuyler's decisions consists of the papers of George Washington that were catalogued by researchers from the University of Virginia.
